Workers at a business park in Warwick can now leave their cars at home thanks to a new bus service.
Stagecoach has extended its popular X17 route to provide a new service to people based at the Tournament Fields development.
The X17 service, which links Coventry, Leamington and Warwick, now continues on from Warwick Bus Station to Warwick Parkway via Tournament Fields and the 1,400 houses located there – running every fifteen minutes as far as Tournament Fields and every thirty minutes to Warwick Parkway.
Paul Ludlow, of Sackville Developments (Warwick), owners and developers of Tournament Fields, said: “The roads on the development have been officially adopted by the county council so that the bus service can start.
“We know that there are significant numbers of people who work here and live in Warwick, so hopefully this will be a help to them. Public transport is also an important consideration to inward investment and this will help us in our quest to bring more jobs to the area.”
The new service should also prove popular with residents of the villages of Hampton Magna and Hampton on the Hill, which are currently only served by one regular bus route.
Clive Jones, of Stagecoach, said the extension to the service makes it possible for bus passengers to travel between Tournament Fields and Warwick Parkway in just over 12 minutes.
“We are pleased to be able to extend the X17, creating a new link between Tournament Fields, the city centre and Warwick Parkway, and hope that it will beneficial to both local residents and workers alike,” he said.
The new link to Warwick Parkway - one of the region’s busiest train stations with regular services to Central London – could encourage commuters to ditch their cars in favour of public transport.
The new service runs between Monday and Saturday from 7am until 6.30pm.
Sackville already created more than 85,000 sq ft of high quality office accommodation at the 52 acre site and has consent for three further headquarters totalling more than 70,000 sq ft. Tournament Fields is in an unrivalled location just off Junction 15 of the M40 and a short drive from Warwick town centre. The prime business location is quickly establishing itself as one of the most prestigious business parks in the region.
The development is being marketed by Wareing & Co and Savills.
